A photo walk down by the river

Occasionally I feel the need to do something different from going into the streets to photograph. So, on Saturday I decided to head down to the river with my Leica M6 and a couple of rolls of black and white film.

The light rain fell as I laced up my hiking shoes and I grabbed my umbrella from the car boot. The ground was a wet and slippery as I followed the signs down to the river bank. It was pleasant and calm by the riverside without another soul to be seen and with only the sounds of birds, the flowing river and rain pattering gently on my umbrella to keep me company.

It’s a calm feeling to be at peace with one’s own thoughts and it’s a chance to think and reflect upon the type of photos to make in contrast to street photography where I always try to stay switched on and reactive.

Which way to go? Choices!!!

Out on a nature photowalk gives me the chance for peace and mindfulness and time to recharge my batteries. On this day I wasn’t disappointed found what I was looking for: A change of pace.

Down by the river
