La Flotte en Ré
As I took in the spectacular views from the 2.9km bridge that span across from the west coast of mainland France, close to La Rochelle, to the île de Ré in June 2024 I marvelled at the impressive feat of engineering and wondered what the little Isle had in store for me.

I stayed in the small port town of La Flotte and was surprised at the amount of bicycles there were. I should have done some research before the trip and I immediately regretted not bringing my Brompton folding bike with me.
I hired a bike instead and set off to explore the Isle that is famous for its oyster farming, boating, fishing and tourism.
I loved the light on this side of France, especially the sunsets, where the golden hour made it easy to take photos.
Sat next to the harbour in La Flotte in the evenings where I sipped a beer and watched the people pass by was a highlight of the visit. These peaceful moments were the perfect way to relax and look back at the memories made during the day.
