Which lens?
Struggling to choose a lens
Every time I go somewhere with the intention of taking photos I agonise over what gear to take with me, especially lenses.
On a recent trip to London I had the very same dilemma. I took some advice from several photographers and decided to keep it simple by taking my Leica M10 with the 50mm Summilux.
It was a different experience for me because I normally shoot with a wider angle lens, something like a 24mm, 28mm and occasionally a 35mm but hardly ever with the 50mm for making street photos.
So the 50mm was stuck on to the M10 for the whole duration of the trip and I had to work with only that one lens zooming in and out by using my feet and shooting with intent.
The 50mm is still fixed to the camera and I’m starting to become familiar and creative with the focal length.
The lens has definitely become a first choice now for any further trips and is considerably lighter than carrying all the other lenses with me!
